Cheryl Williams has been appointed supervisor of office services at Peninsula Community Mental Health. Williams will supervise front office recep-tion, medical records and administrative support staff at the center’s Port Angeles and Sequim offices, while continuing as executive assistant to the CEO and board of directors. She began her career at the center in 1998. From 1983 until its closure in 1997, she was maintenance clerk and later promoted to engineering secretary at Rayonier Mill in Port Angeles.

Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (Northwest SEED) and partners will present the workshop "Converting Wood to Energy: Bio-energy in Clallam County" on Sept. 17 at the Clallam County Courthouse. All community members interested in exploring opportunities for biomass project development on the Olympic Peninsula are welcome to attend. This is the first workshop of a two-part series. It will take place from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in Room EOC of the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles. At the end of the workshop, interested stakeholders will be identified for a second workshop that will provide further assistance for project development and implementation. Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) has received a grant of $200,000 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support the purchase of its administrative offices. OlyCAP had moved to its offices in the Port Townsend Business Park in 2005 to improve accessibility and increase capacity to provide services. The new facilities have had a major impact on service levels. The number of families served grew by more than 50 percent following the move to the new facility. OlyCAP is planning an open house in the fall to give the public an opportunity to see the buildings and learn about the organization.

The purchase will help OlyCAP achieve about $100,000 a year reduction in expenses and strengthen its ability to provide a wide range of services to communities throughout Jefferson and Clallam counties.
