Olympic Cellars sponsors OPHS benefit

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society is the beneficiary of a jewelry and chocolate event from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Olympic Cellars, 255410 Highway 101, Port Angeles. Jewelry designed by Holly Zhang, whose shop is at The Bravern in Bellevue, will be on display, as well as artisan chocolates by DeNovo Chocolates, also of Bellevue.

In addition, guests are encouraged to bring their gently used costume jewelry as a donation. The jewelry is sold at Imagine That!, a bead shop in Poulsbo. All of the proceeds from the sales are donated to OPHS.

Free financial workshops

McAleer honored by RE/MAX

Michael McAleer, managing broker at RE/MAX Fifth Avenue, recently has earned the prestigious RE/MAX Hall of Fame Award. Having been part of the RE/MAX family since 2003, McAleer received the award based upon his consistently high production over the past 11 years. Less than 22 percent of RE/MAX agents worldwide have received this award.

McAleer is the lead agent for Team McAleer. He is the past president of the Sequim Association of Realtors, sits on the association’s board of directors and has been awarded numerous awards for his community service.

Holt head of marketing

Scott Holt, a Sequim High School and Washington State University graduate, has been promoted to North American marketing manager of Allflex USA, Inc., a global leader in animal identification and traceability systems. He will be based in Idaho and will oversee the company’s marketing efforts in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. He also serves as the animal health committee chairman for the Idaho Cattlemen’s Association and is the advisor for the Idaho Junior Hereford Association. He is the son of Russ and Janet Holt of Sequim.

Salon adds stylists

Jolie Salon, 10127 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim, has added two experienced stylists, according to mother-daughter owners Bonnie Ferguson and Angie Heaton. Stylist Marion Kennedy has 43 years of experience in all phases of hair design; she is taking appointments Tuesdays-Thursdays at 460-0694. Tammy Coggins has 17 years of experience in hair design and also does body waxing. She takes appointments Mondays-Tuesdays and every other Saturday at 360-912-1691 and welcomes walk-ins. Microchip your pet at Humane Society

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society provides a low-cost microchip clinic frp, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the shelter, 2105 W. U.S. Highway 101.

Cost is $20 for the microchip and registration. The device, about the size of a grain of rice, carries a number that includes the name and contact information of a pet’s owner. Most veterinary clinics and animal shelters have scanners to read the number on a lost pet. For more information, call 457-8206.
