Organizers of the upcoming United Peninsula Candidate Forum are hoping to get audience questions soon for candidates in three key 2022 General Election races.
The forum is set for 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road, and looks to featurecandidates in three races: U.S. Representative/6th District (Democrat incumbent Derek Kilmer and Republican challenger Elizabeth Kreiselmeier), State Rep. Position 1 (Democrat incumbent Mike Chapman and Republican challenger Sue Forde) and State Rep. Position 2 (Democrat incumbent Steve Tharinger and Republican challenger Brian Pruiett).
Forum organizers are awaiting confirmation from Chapman and Tharinger; Kilmer will be represented by campaign manager Kevin Schilling.
Audience attendees are asked to submit questions for the candidates by Sept. 15 to TeamJefferson@protonmail.com.
Some, but not all, have agreed to participate, in person, forum organizers said, so they are working on a plan for Zoom participation for some of the candidates.
The forum is sponsored by HFI (Health – Freedom – Information) and OPIA (Olympic Peninsula Independent Activists; formerly known as Olympic Peninsula Progressives).
