Car crashes through front entrance of Sequim Safeway

A man crashed his car through the front entrance of the Washington Street Safeway in Sequim just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4.

John Sinkunas, a Safeway customer, said he was getting a cart when he saw a man driving a dark Chevrolet stop for traffic in the parking lot.

“Then he hit the gas, came up on the curb and through the window,” Sinkunas said.

Tim Collins, who works at the Columbia Bank branch inside the grocery store, said the tires on the Chevrolet continued peeling like the accelerator was still depressed after it came through the sliding glass doors.

The man eventually exited the vehicle and walked around. He was not identified by law enforcement officers on the scene.
