GREYWOLF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
As part of Superintendent Bill Bentley’s challenge to provide a "kitchen table" for students to do schoolwork outside of the classroom, Greywolf Elementary School is offering a before-school drop-in math help lab from 8-8:30 a.m. every Thursday in Room 174. Math specialist Sue Park is available to help students. There also is math fact fluency practice and IXL access for a limited number of students in grades 3-5 without Internet access at home every Tuesday through Friday, from 8-8:30 a.m., also in Room 174.

HELEN HALLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Haller librarian Marsha Omdal has organized a one-hour reading tutor training session for volunteers at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, in the school library. Volunteers are encouraged to come by the school and pick up volunteer registration forms any time before the training or forms can be printed from the school district website.

The "kick-off" football game is Sept. 29 at Chimacum, and the first cross country meet is at Stevens Middle School. Please come out and support the Sequim Middle School Timberwolf athletes.

Friday, Oct. 1 – Craft time with Chase Hill at 10:30 a.m. Drop in from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 4 – Reading time with Gentle Paws volunteers and therapy dogs at 10:30 a.m. Every child attending reading time receives a free book. Drop in from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

First Teacher is in Sequim Community School at 220 W. Alder St., next to the playground. Parents of preschoolers come with your children and enjoy activities, the playroom and the playground. _ Sequim student ambassadors leave for Japan on Oct. 28 to tour Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara and Himeji and then to spend four days in Shiso at the homes of Japanese students. To assist with trip costs, there will be a spaghetti dinner at the Guy Cole Center at Carrie Blake Park on Oct. 9.
The Sequim student ambassadors will host 14 students and three chaperones from Sequim’s sister city, Shiso, Japan, from Oct. 1-5. The mayor and three city officials of Shiso and four citizens also are visiting Sequim. This has been an annual educational exchange since 1995.

SEQUIM HIGH SCHOOL
_ The Sequim High School Jazz Band and Stardust Big Band are holding their annual fundraiser dinner dance at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the high school cafeteria. Tickets are available at the main office, Pacific Mist Books and at the door for $15 for singles or $25 for couples. Dinner is included with the ticket price. This is an event for all ages.
_ Sequim High School’s open house is from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4. Everyone will meet in the cafeteria at 6 p.m. for a brief overview of the evening, which is for parents/guardians to visit their student’s classes following their daily schedule and to learn about their instructional programs. Parents who wish to spend more time with an individual teacher are asked to schedule a conference at another time. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria.
