Children don’t come with manuals

Family workshop for parents and their youths ages 10-14

Many parents find their children’s tween/early teen years can be interesting and challenging. The Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition offers a family workshop for parents and their children ages 10-14. The workshop is called the Strengthening Families Program and uses video, activities and discussions to help families make rules and consequences, solve problems together, show love and support, resist peer pressure, appreciate parents/caregivers, get along with others and talk about what makes their family strong.

The seven-week series is from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays from May 4 through June 15 at First Step Family Support Center (Dorothy Duncan Learning Center) at 323 E. Sixth St., Port Angeles.
There is no fee, and dinner and child care are provided.

Learn some new skills as your child enters adolescence. Sessions include time with parents and youths separately and together.

Register by calling Maggie Becker at 417-2436 or Jennifer Charles at 417-2384. Class size is limited so register soon.
