City band helps grads

The Sequim City Band provided its annual scholarships to Port Angeles High School graduate Jodi Chamberlin and Sequim High School graduate Fariss Ryan.

Both received $1,000 scholarships.

Chamberlin plays flute with the Sequim City Band, the Port Angeles High School concert band, orchestra, wind ensemble and flute choir. She performs as a soloist at church, county and state fairs, and nursing homes. She will attend Pacific Lutheran University as an education major with a music minor.

Ryan plays trumpet with the Sequim High School jazz and wind ensembles. He played with the Sequim City Band for six years. In 2008 he played in the Macy’s Day Parade. He also plays soccer and basketball. A Running Start student for two years, he will attend Peninsula College as a biology major (pre-med).
