City of Sequim and Sister City group to host guests from Japan, Consulate General

The City of Sequim and Sequim-Shiso Sister City Association will host five guests from the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington and the Consulate General of Japan-Seattle on Thursday, July 13.

The group arrives at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., at 11 a.m. to tour the facility and key locations in the city.

Following lunch, they will attend the Sequim-Shiso Sister City Association meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the city council chambers at the Civic Center.

Guests include Dale Watanabe, executive director of the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington; Tay Yoshitani, former CEO of the Port of Seattle and board chair; Senior Consul Murazawa, Consulate General of Japan; Amanda Suzuki, Consulate General of Japan, Public Outreach and Cultural Affairs Specialist; and Josephine Hoyne, Japan-America Society of the State of Washington, programs and administrative assistant.

The group is meeting with the Sister City Association as part of the planning effort for the Japan-America Grassroots Summit in Seattle, to be held in September 2018. Organizers are expecting more than 100 visitors from Japan for the event.
