City of Sequim extends deadline for planning commission applications to Feb. 26

The City Council of the City of Sequim recently extended the deadline for applications as it seeks to fill two vacancies on the Sequim Planning Commission.

Commissioners volunteer their time to serve the Sequim community by advising the City Council on plans, policies, regulations and capital spending related to growth and development. Commissioners may also conduct proceedings on specific land use applications such as subdivisions.

The Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at a virtual location because of pandemic restrictions, with meetings lasting one to two hours; additional time may be required for other infrequent public meetings and events or special projects as required by the Sequim City Council.

Applicants for positions 1 and 2 will fill four-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2024.

Applicants for these positions must be residents of the City of Sequim.

The mayor and council liaison to the commission — currently the deputy mayor — will recommend appointments to the city council after reviewing applications and conducting interviews.

To apply, go to sequimwa.gov/223/Planning-Commission, download and complete an application for appointment. Send a completed application, letter of interest and resume to city clerk Sara McMillon at smcmillon@sequimwa.gov or by mail to: Sequim City Clerk’s Office, 152 West Cedar St., Sequim, WA, 98382.

Interested persons must submit applications by 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26.
