City of Sequim installs water stations at area parks

The City of Sequim recently installation of nine water stations in city parks.

The City of Sequim is helping locals stay hydrated this fall with the installation of nine water stations in city parks.

Four stations were recently installed at Carrie Blake Community Park, as well as one each at Seal Street, Pioneer, Gerhardt, Margaret Kirner and James Standard parks.

The stations include a water bottle refilling station and drinking fountains, and six of them (at Sequim Dog Park, Water Reuse Interpretive Center, Albert Haller Playfields, Pioneer, Seal Street and Gerhardt parks) are outfitted with pet watering bowls.

The water stations were the communities first choice to be included in the 2020 budget through the People Project! a participatory budgeting program.

City representatives say the stations encourage sustainability by promoting water bottle re-use and keep the community healthy by providing hydration in recreation areas.

The total cost of the stations was $62,800.
