The City of Sequim has received notification that the U.S. Green Building Council has completed the application review of the Sequim Civic Center for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and has awarded the building a Gold certification.

To obtain the Gold certification, the building was evaluated and scored in the areas of sustainable site design, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design, and regional priorities.

The City of Sequim worked with Lydig Construction and Integrus Architecture to incorporate “green” features into the building.

“We are proud to have built a facility that meets these high standards,” said Mayor Dennis Smith. “Building an environmentally responsible building was always a top priority for the city council.”
