The Port Angeles Civil Air Patrol hosts an informational booth and drawing at the Clallam County Fair on August 18-21, to raise funds to replace the roof on its squadron building at the William R. Fairchild International Airport.

The drawing is held on the last day of the fair and entrants do not need to be present to win.

Civil Air Patrol cadets volunteer Monday evenings and one Saturday a month to learn about aerospace education, how to conduct ground searches and rescues, leadership skills, emergency services and physical fitness. They use these skills to learn how to fly gliders and airplanes, and how to respond to disasters.

Adult senior members said cadets have fun while building self-esteem, self-discipline, teamwork, the opportunities for college scholarships and pride in being Americans.

Cadets mostly come from Sequim and Port Angeles and senior memberships are available to those above 22.
