Clallam Conservation District sets election for March 20

The 2014 Clallam Conservation District Board of Supervisors election is scheduled for 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the Armory Square Office Building, 228 W. First St., Suite F, Port Angeles.

 

Anyone residing and registered to vote in Clallam County is eligible to run for the position of Conservation District supervisor. Interested candidates must submit the Candidate Information for the Office of Elected Supervisor form to the Clallam Conservation District by the candidate filing deadline of 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20.

 

The Nominating Petition for the Office of Elected Supervisor form, signed by 25 or more registered Clallam County voters, must be submitted by the filing deadline in order for the candidate’s name to appear on the election ballot. Voters who are unable to cast their votes at the polling place may request an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots must be requested by 4 p.m. on Monday, March 10.

 

The elected three-year term of office presently held by Linda Barnfather expires in 2014.

 

Five positions comprise the Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Each serves a three-year term of office without compensation. Registered Clallam County voters elect three of the positions. The Washington State Conservation Commission appoints the other two positions.
