Clallam fairgrounds, most county parks closed through May 4

The Clallam County Parks, Fair & Facilities Department has announced the temporary closure of all campgrounds and day-use facilities managed by the county, including the Clallam County Fairgrounds.

This is in direct response to Governor Inslee’s recent “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, which was recently extended, county parks director Joel Winborn said on April 7.

All campground and day-use facility entrance gates are now closed and locked, and areas with no entry gates are closed and have been signed to reflect closure — and in some cases, barricaded, Winborn said.

Essential staff will be present 24 hours a day at the county’s three campgrounds and periodically at day-use areas to preserve and protect these resources, he said.

“We ask that you respect these temporary measures while we all work through this difficult period,” Winborn said.

Camping at the Dungeness and Salt Creek Recreation Areas is closed through May 4* while Camp David Jr. is closed through May 15*. All county day-use facilities, along with the Clallam County Fairgrounds, are closed through May 4*. (* — dates subject to change)
