College offers opportunity grants

Peninsula College's Opportunity Grant program has funds to assist with college tuition for up to 45 credits and the cost of textbooks.

Peninsula College’s Opportunity Grant program has funds to assist with college tuition for up to 45 credits and the cost of textbooks.

The grants are awarded on a first_come, first_served basis. Applicants must complete the 2010_2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, have a complete financial aid file and meet the Opportunity Grant eligibility criteria. The 2010_2011 FAFSA will be online at www.fafsa.ed.gov starting Jan. 1.

Grant requirements are: 18 or older, a Washington resident, have earned less than an associate degree, show financial need on the FAFSA and be registered in one of the following programs: addiction studies, administrative office systems – accounting option, automotive technology, composite structures, criminal justice, early childhood education, information technology, massage therapy, medical assistant, nursing, welding technology, woodworking or homebuilding.

Students must enroll in a quarterly one-credit Opportunity Grant class that teaches student- and life-success strategies. They will receive one_on_one assistance to help them achieve their educational goals
