SHS choir concert tonight

The Sequim High School Choirs present a free concert today, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. in the SHS auditorium, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

MoveOn holds potluck, meeting

Clallam County MoveOn holds its Christmas potluck at 6 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Meeting Hall, 73 Howe Road, Agnew. Steve Hamm discusses the proposed constitutional amendment overturning the Citizens United decision. New members are welcome. 457-6884.

Clallam Planning Commission meetings nixed

The Clallam County Planning Commission meetings for today, Dec. 19, and for Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, have been canceled. The commission reconvenes Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. For more information, phone 417-2277.

Food bank seeks frozen turkeys

Sequim Food Bank, 144 W. Alder St., seeks more frozen turkeys and food for those in need during the holiday break. People can drop off a turkey by calling 683-1205 or 461-6038 or by visiting the Food Bank between 9-2 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Dec. 19-22. Those in need must show proof of residency for a Christmas basket.

Meet ‘Santa by the Pond’

Vision Landscape Nursery, 131 Kitchen-Dick Road, Sequim, hosts its 12th Santa by the Pond free event from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22. Bring a camera for photos with Santa (pets welcome) with the lights and bonfire. Refreshments served. Call 683-2855.

Hear holiday stories at market

The Port Angeles Farmers Market hosts its second annual Holiday Storytelling event from 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Gateway Pavilion at Front and Lincoln streets. Carolers, music and free hot cider and cocoa also are on hand.

MAC closes for holidays

The Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley closes two of its Sequim facilities for the holidays. The MAC Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St., and DeWitt Administration Center, 544 N. Sequim Ave., will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 25,-Tuesday, Jan. 1. They reopen with normal hours on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

‘Handel with Care’ set

The community is invited as performers and audience members to a Sing It Yourself “Messiah” from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim. Dewey Ehling will be music director and scores will be provided. Donations benefit Sequim Community Aid.

Port launches PenPly webcam

The webcam monitoring the demolition process at the Peninsula Plywood mill site is online at the Port’s website, www.portofpa.com. Still photos every hour document the transformation at PenPly as the facility is torn down and redeveloped by the Port.

Hazardous material abatement is occurring inside the mill structure and buildings are slated to come down beginning in the middle of December.

A second webcam will be online soon.

Irrigation board to meet

The Highland Irrigation District Board of Equalization meets from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 792 West Sequim Bay Road. The public is welcome.

Community dinners resume in January

Trinity United Methodist Church will not hold a community dinner in December.

The next free community dinner will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim.

Rohrer to be sworn in

Clallam County Superior Court Judge-elect Erik Rohrer will be sworn in at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, in Courtoom 1 of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Washington State Supreme Court Justice Susan Owens will officiate.

The event is open to the public; a reception follows.

Sequim Deaf Coffee House meets

The Sequim Deaf Coffee House meets from noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in the Geneva Hall at Sequim Community Church, 960 N. Fifth Ave. and Cape Hope Way.

Fair accepting superintendent applications

Building superintendent positions are open until Jan. 31, 2013, for the 2013 Clallam County Fair, to be held Aug.15-18, 2013. Training is provided and there is a small stipend. To apply, call the fair office at 417-2551 or see www.clallamcountyfair.com.

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $5 ($8 guest) and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.
