OPHS holds ‘Vintage Cat Days’
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society continues its Vintage Cat Days through March 3.
All senior cats are available for just $5. Each adoption includes the cat’s spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, health check by a participating veterinarian and a microchip.

Pancake breakfast benefits hospital
The Sequim Guild for Seattle Children’s Hospital hosts its annual pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Sequim Elks Club, 143 Port Williams Road.
The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children.
Proceeds go to uncompensated care for children at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

History Tales feature G.M. Lauridsen story
Dona Cloud, research librarian, will make a PowerPoint presentation, “The Life and Times of G.M. Lauridsen 1861-1940,” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Clallam County Historical Society’s History Tales lecture series, held in the city council chambers of City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.

Fire district board meets a day early
The Board of Commissioners of Clallam County Fire Protection District 3 has rescheduled the 1 p.m. March 6 meeting to 2 p.m. Monday, March 5. This regular meeting will be at Station No. 34, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
Bring your bonsai
The Dungeness Bonsai Society meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St., Sequim. Members are encouraged to bring their own bonsai for repotting. The club meets the first Tuesday of the month.
Program on night sky rescheduled
The Wooden Boat Chandlery, 431 Water St., Port Townsend, hosts Mark Peterson’s free presentation “Making Sense of the Night Sky” from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7.

“Sequim 120,” the citizen participation program of the city’s comprehensive plan update, will begin with “visioning” workshops at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, March 10, and at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at the Sequim Transit Center,190 W. Cedar St.

Charities/nonprofits symposium set
The Office of the Secretary of State’s Corporations and Charities Division is holding a Charities and Nonprofit Education Symposium from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, 905 W. Ninth St., Port Angeles.
The morning session will cover duties, responsibilities and legal liabilities of a charity or nonprofit board; the afternoon session will focus on state regulatory compliance.

Guild offers scholarships
The Sequim-Dungeness Hospital Guild offers two $1,000 scholarships every year to students majoring in a subject or program in the medical field.
Applicants for the 2012 scholarships must be Clallam County residents who have been accepted at a four-year college or medical school as full-time students and entering at least their junior year of college.
The deadline to submit completed applications is April 30.

Sequim seeks ideas for 9/11 artifact
Submissions are open for ideas on designing a monument with the 843-pound piece of sheet metal from the World Trade Center.
Sequim Police Chief Bill Dickinson, Detective Darrell Nelson and Officer Randy Kellas presented the artifact on Sept. 11, 2011, in Sequim.
The city council decides what and where the monument will be following submissions. To submit a monument idea, contact Sequim Police Department at 683-7227 or City Hall at 683-4139.
