NPBA hosts candidate forum
The North Peninsula Building Association hosts a candidate forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles. Cost for dinner is $16.
Guests will be Jim McEntire, candidate for county commissioner; Pete Duncan and John Miller, candidates for the Sequim City Council; and Drew Schwab, Dan DiGuillio and Don Perry, candidates for the Port Angeles City Council.
Nominations for the NPBA Board of Directors will be read and nominations taken from the floor.

Genealogy Library holds special Saturday hours
In honor of Family History Month, the Clallam County Genealogical Society will be open from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, for genealogy research. The CCGS Research Library, 931 W. Ninth St., Port Angeles, has a wealth of research material at hand. Computers are available with access to ancestry, world vital records, Fold 3 and American Ancestor. Call 417-5000.
Friends of Library members sale
The Friends of Sequim Library hold a members only book sale from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Members may bring friends and memberships will be sold at the door.
4-H welcome meeting
The Pure Country 4-H club is having a meeting for new and returning members at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Fairview Bible Church, 385 O’Brien Road, Port Angeles.

Veterans Park bell ringing
On the last Friday of every month a ceremonial bell ringing is held at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park on Lincoln Street in Port Angeles.
The 15-20 minute ceremony honors by name, branch of service and conflict all Clallam County veterans and servicemen and servicewomen who have died in the previous month. There is a formal presentation of the United States flag, a 21-gun salute and the playing of “Taps.” All are invited to pay tribute.
Masons hold Sunday breakfasts
Port Angeles Masonic Lodge #69 hosts an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. the first Sunday of each month at the Masonic Temple, 622 S. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.
Requested donation is $3 for children under 13, $5 for seniors 65+ and $8 for adults. Proceeds benefit charity and scholarship funds.
Winter Wishes planners seek donations
Organizers of the Sequim High School Winter Wishes assembly are seeking donations from the community for the Dec. 15 event.
Winter Wishes grants wishes to SHS students depending upon the request and items available. Organizers are accepting cash donations; after Nov. 3, they will have a list of items needed for the event.

First weekend voting is light
The Clallam County Auditor’s office received 1, 219 ballots as of Oct. 24. This is 2.7 percent of the 45,710 registered voters, according to County Auditor Patricia Rosand. Normally about 5 percent of ballots are returned over the first weekend.
Any voter who has not yet received a ballot should call the Auditor’s Office at 417-2221 for a replacement and an address verification. Ballots must be postmarked or placed into a drop box by Nov. 8.
Australia Day at Legacy
Legacy Canine Behavior and Training, 252 Kitchen-Dick Road, Sequim, hosts guest instructor Alexis Davison from Adelaide, Australia, for an afternoon of “Aussie”-themed fun from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Dogs and their owners will participate by playing Australian games designed to help practice basic pet dog manners skills.

Biomass talk scheduled for P.T.
Dr. Bill Sammons, a national expert on biomass combustion, provides a public presentation on the risks and impacts of burning biomass for energy at 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 26, at the Community Center on Lawrence and Tyler streets in Port Townsend.
