Burn ban lifted

The Clallam County burn ban was lifted at midnight, Oct. 15. Urban Growth Areas, including Sequim, Carlsborg, Port Angeles, Joyce, Clallam Bay and Sekiu still are restricted from outdoor burning by Washington state law.

Sidewalk ramps close for upgrades

As part of an improvement project to make sidewalk ramps at the Sequim Avenue and Washington Street intersection ADA compliant, the ramps are temporarily closed. South corner ramps are closed until this evening, Oct. 17; north corner ramps will be closed from this evening, Oct. 17, until Friday afternoon, Oct. 19.

Clallam Planning Commission meets

SARC friends to meet Thursday

There will be a Friends of SARC meeting at SARC, 610 N. Fifth Ave., at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in the hallway of the first floor. This volunteer group increases awareness of SARC and what it offers.

Lighthouse group to meet

The New Dungeness Light Station Association hosts its annual public meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim. Keynote speaker is Mayor Ken Hays. Celebrate 2011 meal marathon

The nonprofit Helping Others With Life offers free meals from 4:30-6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 230 W. Eighth St., Port Angeles. The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and Olympic Medical Center invite everyone to a “Haunt and Jaunt” Family Friendly Wellness Walk — costumes welcome — from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Jamestown Family Health Clinic, 808 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

Events also include dancing and other fitness activities, with drawings for prizes.The first 250 children receive a free lunch cooler.

2012 smoke testing complete

The City of Sequim Public Works Department has completed the sanitary sewer smoke testing program for this year.

The testing, which finds defects, breaks, leaks and faulty connections in the sewer system, resumes next summer.
