Dickinson to address Democratic Club
Sequim Police Chief Bill Dickinson is the speaker for the Clallam County Democratic Club monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 11, at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St., Sequim.
After a business meeting and the election of officers, Dickinson will address the club, focusing on public safety issues in Sequim and the east end of Clallam County. He also will describe how the various law enforcement agencies coordinate their activities.
The meeting is open to the public.
Funds raised for medical expenses
A fundraiser will be held for uncovered medical expenses for Laura Hudson from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim.

Humane Society to host pet licensing clinic
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society hosts a licensing clinic from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the shelter, 2105 W. Highway 101, Port Angeles. All cats and dogs in Clallam County are required to be licensed.
Bring proof of each pet’s rabies vaccine in order to purchase a license. A yearly license is available for $10 for spayed/neutered animals. A lifetime license is available for $50 if the pet is spayed/neutered, has its rabies vaccine and has a microchip.

Public input sought on Dungeness refuge plans
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks public comments on the preliminary draft alternatives of the Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge.
To provide information and answer questions, the service will host open house meetings from noon-2 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Sequim Prairie Grange Hall, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim.
Organizers will present draft versions of three management alternatives and ask for comments and concerns, due by Feb. 18.

Parks & Rec Board vacancy
The Parks and Recreation Board is seeking a Sequim city resident to fill a vacancy. This board has eight members and is an advisory group to the city council.
The term of the position is three years. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Democrats hold town hall meeting
The Clallam County Democratic Party hosts its first public meeting of the year at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Port Angeles City Council chambers, 321 E. Fifth St.
Party chairman Matthew Randazzo gives the annual state of the party update and there will be a town hall meeting with County Commissioner Mike Chapman.
The event is free and open to the public.
Online option added for food worker class
Food workers in Clallam County may take the food worker class online as well as in person. A link from the “Online Services” menu of the county’s website, www.clallam.net/, will take users to the instructions and test. Once they have passed the online test, users have five days to pay the $10 fee with a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card and print out their food worker card.
Access the online training through the Clallam County website to avoid falling victim to an online food worker card scam.
The website also has dates and information for the in-person food worker classes offered in 2012, also for a $10 fee.
