County Planning Commission meets

The Clallam County Planning Commission holds its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. today, Nov. 7, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Debris Response Plan discussed

A community meeting to discuss the state’s Marine Debris Response Plan is at 6 p.m. today, Nov. 7, at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

The meeting is an opportunity to learn about the resources that the state can bring to bear on the issue of marine debris and the possibility that the coasts will see a rising volume of debris as items from the March 2011 Tohoku tsunami arrive.

Alternative healthy film screens

Guild Thrift shop open Saturday

The Sequim-Dungeness Hospital Guild’s Thrift Shop, 204 W. Bell St., Sequim, is open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

The shop offers holiday items, winter clothing, furniture, kitchen items and jewelry.

Delays around Lake Crescent set

Expect up to 30-minute delays on U.S. Highway 101 at Lake Crescent through Friday, Nov. 9, as final work on a cliff face is completed.

The road is reduced to one lane of traffic through the construction zone at Milepost 228 just past Sledgehammer Point. Oversized vehicles are encouraged to use an alternate route.

‘Education Under Fire’ screens

The Baha’is of Sequim host a free screening of “Education Under Fire” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

The film, a documentary about Iran’s 30-year policy of denying higher education to members of the Baha’i community, will be followed by discussion of educational rights.

Rock club holds open house
