Book sale set for Saturday

Friends of the Sequim Library holds its Second Saturday Book Sale from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 12 behind the library at 630 N. Sequim Ave. Proceeds benefit the library.

Mosaic plans benefit dinner

The community is invited to a spaghetti dinner to benefit Mosaic, a nonprofit group that supports special needs individuals in Clallam County.

The event begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, with cocktails, and dinner at 6 p.m. at the Sunland Golf & Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim. There will be a dessert auction and music provided by the Port Angeles High School Orchestra.

SHS band hosts car wash

The Sequim High School Band holds a car wash fundraiser from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in the parking lot at Tarcisio’s, 609 W. Washington St.

The students are earning money to participate in the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim, Calif.

Beachcombers, birders wanted for COASST

Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team offers a free training session from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, for citizens interested in volunteering to collect high-quality data on the status of coastal beaches and sea birds. Volunteers commit to survey about 3/4 mile of a beach each month.

The Sequim PC Users Group hosts a presentation on using WordPress to set up and maintain a free business or personal website quickly and easily at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the computer lab, Room E-3, Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

‘Fighting Foreclosure 101’ offered

A free “Fighting Foreclosure 101” workshop is from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave., Port Townsend.

Counselors from HUD, a representative of Sen. Patty Murray’s office and an attorney will meet directly with participants. Weekly support meetings in Sequim are possible if there is interest.

Backcountry Film Fest screens

The Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Wine on the Waterfront, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles.

Admission is $10, with proceeds funding Peninsula Boys & Girls Clubs winter activities at Hurricane Ridge.

Story times set

Story times for babies, toddlers and preschoolers will resume at the Sequim Library in January.

Story times for babies ages 0-18 months will be offered on the second Monday of each month at 11 a.m. starting Jan. 14.

Story times for toddlers ages 0-3 years are Wednesdays at 10 a.m., starting Wednesday Jan. 23. Story times for preschoolers ages 3-5 years are offered on Wednesdays at 11 a.m., also starting on Jan. 23.

‘Conversation Cafe’ set at library

The Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., hosts a Conversation Cafe from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month, beginning Jan. 15 and continuing through April.

The first session, “What do I believe about others and myself?” will introduce participants to the life of Temple Grandin, the renowned animal behavior researcher.

Preregistration is required for the free program and group size is limited to 12.
