Artist of the month

Irene Loghry is featured artist for May at the Waterfront Art Gallery, 120 W. First St., Port Angeles. Her work will be on display the entire month. Loghry was born in Wallace, Idaho, and lived in various parts of the Northwest before moving to Port Angeles in 1954.

Specializing in oils and pastels, Loghry paints portraits, landscapes, seascapes and flowers.

Bridge club adds playing day

Beginning June 4, Sequim Duplicate Bridge Club adds Thursday to its weekly schedule of sanctioned games.

Games are played at 12:30 p.m. Monday and Friday at the Masonic Hall at the corner of Pine Street and South Fifth Avenue.

Thursday May 14 – Cook’s choice

Friday May 15 – Caesar salad, vegetarian or meat pizza, apple pie

Monday May 18 – Cottage cheese and fruit, liver and onions, buttered noodles, mixed vegetables, pudding

Tuesday May 19 -Fresh melon, teriyaki chicken breast, ginger noodles, stir-fry vegetables, pineapple.

Career camp application deadline extended

Applications are being accepted for the 31st annual Washington State Patrol – Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Career Camp to be held at the WSP Academy in Shelton from July 25-31. The due date for applications was extended to May 22. Applications can be downloaded from the WSP Home Page under "Outreach."

High school juniors and seniors with an interest in law enforcement are invited to attend.

The state patrol and other police departments provide officers as staff members to instruct, serve as counselors and present federal, state, county and local law enforcement as a possible career path. Washington Kiwanis clubs sponsor the academy. Visit www.wsp.wa.gov or call 360-753-5299.
