A documentary filmed on Chicken Coop Road east of Sequim will premier on the peninsula at 7 p.m. tonight, Nov. 9, at the Port Angeles High School auditorium, 304 E. Park Avenue, Port Angeles. The film, “Back to Eden,” follows Paul Gautschi’s journey in developing sustainable organic growing methods in his garden.

State liquor stores open on Veterans Day
All state-run liquor stores will be open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11.
Contract liquor stores also may be open. Contact contract stores directly for their holiday operating schedules.

Music Live with Lunch presents orchestra
Music Live with Lunch presents the Port Angeles High School Chamber Orchestra at noon Tuesday, Nov. 15, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.,
Sequim. Under conductor Ron Jones, the group has won many local and national competitions and has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The chamber orchestra performs music by Purcell, Elgar and Dvorak.

Child care group
has new chief
Jenna West is the new director of the ChildCare at the Commons, the Serenity House of Clallam County child care center at 2203 W. 18th St., Port Angeles. She follows Susan Poulson, who retired after six years as director.
A day care teacher and program supervisor for more than seven years, West is a graduate of the Peninsula College Early Childhood Education Program and a mother of two.

Totem pole presentation offered Nov. 18
The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe holds an indoor presentation on the tribe’s totem poles, history and legends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in the Red Cedar Hall at the JKT Community Center, 1033 Old Blyn Highway, Blyn.

Test of Emergency Alert System today
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. The message says, “This is a test” for both radio and television and will last 30 seconds to a few minutes. Locally, the Emergency Alert System (EAS) is tested regularly but the test ensures the system works through the nation.
