Harvest celebrated

Nash’s Organic Produce holds a harvest celebration potluck and barn dance Oct. 4.

The potluck begins at 6 p.m.

The Jelly Rollers from Seattle plays blues and rock at 7:30 p.m.

Bring a dish to share for the potluck and get ready to celebrate the harvest farm-style.

Adults are $10. Children are free. Call 681-7458.

Global Lens film

series opens

Peninsula College and the Port Townsend Film Festival present 10 films representing diversity and excellence of contemporary global filmmakers at the college’s Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, and the Rose Theatre, 235 Taylor St., Port Townsend.

In Port Angeles, the films will be screened every other Friday. The first film begins at 6 p.m., and the second at 8 p.m.

The Oct. 10 films are Wang Chao’s "Luxury Car" from China and Jeffrey Jeturian’s "The Bet Collector" from the Philippines.

Admission is $5 per film. Peninsula College and area high school students will be admitted free with a current student ID.

The Global Lens Series is an arm of the San Francisco_based Global Film Initiative project, dedicated to promoting cross-cultural understanding through cinema.

Rescue group

presents new book

Peninsula Friends of Animals presents its new book "Tails from the Heart, Stories, Poems, and

Artwork" 1-3 p.m. Oct. 11 at The Buzz, 128 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

Authors and artists read selections from the book and sign copies for customers. The event includes refreshments, raffle and door prizes.

All proceeds of book sales go to animal rescue. Call 582-1643.

Benefit reading

supports First Step

Family Support Center

The fall fundraiser for First Step Family Support Center, a United Way agency, will be a benefit reading of Rebecca Redshaw’s one act play, "In Search of Mary Tyler Moore." The reading will take place at 7 p.m., at the Port Angeles community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Friday, Oct. 10. The play is suitable for all ages and a $10 donation is suggested. The readers include a number of First Step staff and clients.
