Guild’s thrift shop open

The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild Thrift Shop, 204 W. Bell St., is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16-18. All blue tag will be 50 percent off. In addition to sale items, the shop is featuring Christopher Radko Christmas ornaments, Lladro, a vintage Avon complete nativity scene, corning ware, vintage restaurant ware and Noritake Irene pattern service for 12, and a classic wood gun cabinet.

All proceeds are donated to help fund local health needs.

No donations will be accepted from Dec. 17-Feb. 7, as the shop will be closed Dec. 19-March 3.

Habitat Clallam opens homeowner selection

Habitat Clallam is opening up homeowner selection for two homes to be built at their Maloney Heights Community in Port Angeles. The houses will be three-bedroom, one-bathroom homes completed through the organization’s self-help/sweat equity homeownership program.

Attend an application workshop to learn more: 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4 in Sequim, or 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in Port Angeles. Pre-registration is required.

Pond stocked for youth fishing

Staff with the Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife stocked the pond just north of Carrie Blake Community Park with about 180 trout from the Hurd Creek Hatchery earlier this month.

Youths 14 and younger can fish free daily, and retain two trout per day. The hatchery planted about 300 fish in late October, members of the Puget Sound Anglers-North Olympic Peninsula Club noted.

Local office open to help disabled vets

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) office at 583 W. Washington St. is open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. each Wednesday, to serve veterans who are needing help with claims or other information.

Services are free and veterans do not have to be members of DAV to receive assistance.

The office is by walk-in; no appointment is necessary. Masks are required upon entrance.
