Fair superintendent positions open

Building/barn superintendent positions are open for the 2020 Clallam County Fair, which will be held Aug. 20-23, 2020.

Those interested in applying or seeking more about what the position responsibilities include are asked to call the fair office at 360-417-2551 for an application.

The application is also on the fair website at www.clallamcountyfair.net.

Training is provided and there is a small stipend.

Deadline to submit an application is Friday, Jan. 31. Positions will be filled at one of the next fair board meetings.

Census group seeking applications

The U.S. Census Bureau is now recruiting hundreds of temporary Census Takers in Clallam County in advance of its Nonresponse Followup Operation for the 2020 Census.

Pay is $15 per hour; fill out applications online at www.2020census.gov/jobs.

The primary goal of the Nonresponse Followup Operation is to count people in person at housing units who have not self-responded to the decennial census questionnaire. Census-takers visit and record the households.

This operation, census officials say, requires more field workers than any other operation for the national population count that occurs every 10 years.

The decennial count influences how more than $675 billion from more than 100 federal programs are distributed to states and localities each year, officials say, noting that Nonresponse Followup is a key part of the 2020 Census program that ensures a complete and accurate count.
