Here are some upcoming events and notices in Sequim

Primary ballots trickling in

The first ballots for Clallam County’s primary election are back. The county elections office received 1,823 ballots on July 21 — a little less than 4 percent of the 47,132 registered voters. All registered voters should now have their ballots; those who have not received a ballot and are seeking a replacement may contact the auditor’s office at 417-2221 or stop by the office in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

SARC to discuss levy

The SARC Board of Commissioners will have a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. today, July 23, in the gym at SARC, 610 N. Fifth Ave. The purpose is to present financial timetables, research and other data the SARC board used to elect to put a six-year levy on the ballot. The public is encouraged to attend.

Port Angeles beach cleanup needs volunteers

The Marine Resources Committee in Port Angeles is having a beach cleanup at Ediz Hook and Harborview Park beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26. Bags, gloves and snacks will be provided. Volunteers are needed. Call Emily Larson at 565-6971 with questions.

Fair royalty hold food drive

The Clallam County Fair Royalty will be holding a food drive in support of the Sequim Food Bank from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at QFC. The food bank is in need of brown rice, beans and peanut butter. Also, in order to help those affected by the wildfires, all financial donations will be given to a food bank in the most devastated area in Eastern Washington.

Dogs display their stuff at rally, show

Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club will be holding Obedience and Rally Trials from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 26 and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 26-27 at the club’s All-Breed Dog Shows at the Sequim High School football field. These shows consist of Conformation, Obedience and Rally in one location and the club expects almost 700 dogs on Saturday and Sunday.  There will be a food vendor and several dog product vendors on site as well. It’s $5 to park in the parking lot, but free on the street.

Smilemobile coming to Sequim

The Washington Dental Service Foundation SmileMobile (a fully equipped mobile dental clinic) is coming to the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St. from July 28-Aug. 8. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 888-286-9105.

Appointments should be scheduled before July 25.

Free dinner at Trinity

A free community dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. The meal includes Chef Carl’s special meatloaf, au gratin potatoes, vegetables, fruit salad, desserts and beverages.

Reservations, which are requested to ensure that enough food is prepared, may be made by calling the church at 683-5367 between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the dinner or by e-mail to dinners@sequimtumc.org.

Donate to foster parents

Dungeness Kids Co. is collecting school supplies for the North Olympic Foster Parent Association. Backpacks filled with school supplies will be given to foster children at the organization’s annual picnic in August to help them prepare for Back to School. Some of the supplies that are needed include new backpacks, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, markers, chalk and scissors. Call 582-1700.

Senior Nutrition menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest, and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.
