Bank warns of scams

Sound Community Bank officials are warning local residents about potential fraud and scam attempts in recent days.

“We’re seeing an unusually high amount of banking scams, particularly on the (Olympic) Peninsula,” bank representatives said in a facebook post.

“As a reminder, banks never contact you to ask for personal information. Do not click links: instead, go directly to the bank’s website.”

Residents who receive a call asking for information should hang up and call the number on the back of their debit card, bank representatives said. They urge those interested to view a video online (youtu.be/E8OpI6jM7XU) for more helpful tips on how to spot a scam.
