City seeks gardeners
The City of Sequim invites gardeners interested in serving as volunteers in the community gardens, city parks and other locations to attend a meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.

Grief group sets June meeting
Grief and Grieving, an ongoing secular group for Unitarians and other community members who have experienced a death of a loved one in the past 18 months, meets from 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, 73 Howe Road, Port Angeles. Horse rescue hosts open house
The Olympic Peninsula Equine Network, a new nonprofit horse rescue group under Eyes That Smile, will have an open house from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at 554 Roupe Road, off Hooker Road. Dog park party set for Saturday
Sequim Dog Park Pals and Sequim’s K-9 Unit celebrate the fifth anniversary of
Sequim’s Off-Leash Dog Park with a fundraiser from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 30.
The event includes demonstrations by Sequim’s K-9 unit “Chase and Mike,” pet-related booths and food for purchase, raffle prizes from local businesses and a pet rummage sale. To donate items, call Marci at 360-808-6148 or e-mail omaofred47@gmail.com.
Funds go to the dog park and the K-9 unit training course, open to all dog park users.
Potluck launches autism group
A potluck get-together to launch Olympic Peninsula Autism Support, a group for parents, family members, teachers and friends of autistic children of any age, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30. Candidates debate scheduled
The League of Women Voters of Clallam County presents a candidates debate from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at the Clallam County commissioners meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. Speakers include candidates for Clallam County Commissioner, District 2 Dale Holiday, Maggie Roth, Sandra Long, Mike Chapman and Patti Morris. Candidates for Public Utility District 1, Commissioner District 3 Ted Simpson and Cindy Kelly also will speak.
Vegetarian/vegan potluck set
The Vegetarian/Vegan Potluck group holds its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 9, in the Community Service Center of the Sequim Seventh-day Adventist Church, 30 Sanford Lane. Kids Fair invites exhibitors
The First Teacher Dungeness Kids Fair invites applications for exhibitors. Held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Carrie Blake Park in Sequim, the fair offers entertainment, activities and free books for children, as well as information and resources for families. In the past, more than 1,400 people attended.
The fair benefits the Parenting Matters Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping parents in their job as children’s first teachers. Call 582-3428 or 681-2250.
Deaf Coffee House hosts picnic
Sequim Deaf Coffee House holds its fourth annual picnic from 9 a.m.-dusk Saturday, July 14, at Carrie Blake Park, 202 Blake Ave., Sequim. Bring folding chairs, a favorite dish to share, and cash for hot dogs ($2/$2.50) and hamburgers ($3/$3.50), soda and bottled water included. The event includes games, raffles and door prizes. Design a tree for annual festival
The Clallam County Festival of Trees is looking for local people who would like to design a tree for the annual benefit holiday auction and sale, held this year on Nov. 23-25 at Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles. The festival is a benefit for the Olympic Medical Center foundation and the Exchange Club. Those interested may contact the Olympic Medical Foundation office at 417-7144.
Centennial group invites sponsors
The Sequim Centennial Committee seeks sponsors for the yearlong Centennial Celebration. Sponsorships are tax-deductible and all amounts are welcome. Sponsors who donate $5,000 can have their names or logos included on the Centennial poster.

Donate for disaster shelters
The Red Cross is kicking off the “Cots for Clallam County” campaign to raise funds for 1,000 cots and bedding kits to support disaster shelters in the community. Currently there are only 180 cots and bedding kits in Clallam County to serve a population of 70,000-plus. To make a donation, call 457-7933 or mail to American Red Cross, Cots for Clallam, P.O. Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $5 ($7 guest) and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.
