OMC seeking input on strategic plan

Olympic Medical Center is seeking community input on the development of its 2021-24 Strategic Plan, hosting two upcoming virtual public forums.

The forums are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, and 6 p.m. Thursday, May 20; visit olympicmedical.org/forum to register for the forums and/or to submit a question.

OMC’s strategic plan aims to focus on three key areas: Quality, Safety and Experience; OMC and Community Relationships (including community, employee and medical staff relations), and Organizational Performance (including facilities, technology and services, and financial stewardship).

Potential strategic planning topics include campus planning, new and expanded services, partnerships, initiatives that support patient care and wellness, financial goals and more.

Wildfires the subject of illustrated Zoom presentation

Geologist Dr. Jennifer Pierce of Boise State University’s Department of Geology will present “Wildfires, Climate and Erosion in the Past, Present and Future,” an illustrated lecture at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22, on Zoom.

Pierce will integrate these three subjects based on 20 years of impact studies on forests in the Northern Rocky Mountains. The lessons learned there apply well to all relatively arid and mountainous regions of the West, program organizers say.

Washington state’s 2020 fire season saw more individual fires than in any other recorded year, they said.

To attend the free presentation, go to the Quimper Geological Society website at quimpergeology.org and request a Zoom invitation. Virtual doors open at 3:45 p.m.
