Lecture in library

Trinity hosts dinner

A free community dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. The meal includes meatballs, gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, fruit salad, dessert and beverages.

Reservations are required and may be made by phoning the church at 683-5367 between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the dinner or by email to dinners@sequimtumc.org. The church presents the dinners on the last Thursday of each month.


Library hosts brain talk

Discover new ways to boost your brain’s health at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Clinical neuropsychologist Kris Rhoads discusses natural ways to exercise your brain and enhance your memory as part of the 2016 Adult Summer Reading Program at the North Olympic Library System.

Rhoads specializes in the evaluation and treatment of dementia and neurodegenerative disorders. He serves as the primary neuropsychologist for the University of Washington Memory and Brain Wellness Center and is an associate professor in the Department of Neurology.

Fourth fun on July 1

The Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim, hosts its annual Independence Day barbecue at 5 p.m. Friday, July 1. Tickets are on sale now, $12 for Shipley Center members and $15 for non-members.

The meal includes hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, milkshakes and dessert. Entertainment is provided.

Senior Nutrition menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.

Friday, June 24: Green salad, hot turkey sandwich, whipped potatoes, peas, fruit cup

Tuesday, June 28: Tossed greens, cheese ravioli lasagna, spinach, garlic bread, fresh melon

Wednesday, June 29: Waldorf salad, chicken cordon bleu, rice pilaf, lima beans, peach crisp.
