‘Connections’ event seeks to provide resources, assistance to those in need

The 11th-annual Community Resource Connections — formerly known as Project Homeless Connect — looks to help peninsula residents dealing with housing issues or homelessness.

The event — scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles — is organized by Clallam County Homeless Outreach, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

The group’s primary purpose is to connect local residents experiencing poverty, housing insecurity, homelessness or otherwise are experiencing barriers, with resources and services that can meet their immediate needs.

Services at the Community Resource Connections event include: free meals, clothing, haircuts, chiropractic care, dental care, medical care, assistance with driver’s license reinstatement, state identification cards, veterans services, chemical dependency and mental health referrals, legal advice, employment connections and more.

Additionally, organizers said, this is a time to make connections with various social service agencies.

Clallam County Transit offers free rides to and from Vern Burton Center on the day of the event from anywhere in the county.
