Crash on Palo Alto sends two to hospital

Two men in serious condition after rollover

Story updated at 5 p.m., Aug. 16.

A two-door 1983 Datsun flipped on its top about 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, near the intersection of Louella and Palo Alto roads.

David Elliot, 21, and Neil Strebe, 44, were heading north on Palo Alto Road when they failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the road and struck the southbound ditch, causing the car to overturn.

When medical rescue and law enforcement arrived, one of the two men was out of the car while the other was trapped inside.

He was freed and both men were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Elliot and Strebe are in serious condition in intensive care as of Monday, Aug. 16.

Clallam County Fire District 3, Clallam County Sheriff, Olympic Ambulance and Washington State Patrol personnel were at the scene. The sheriff’s office says speed and alcohol might have been contributing factors. The investigation is ongoing.
