Sequim High hosts speaker
Sequim High School’s Martin Luther King Assembly is set for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the school gymnasium, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

Infinite Hope in Port Angeles
Members of Save Our Sequoia are organizing a Martin Luther King Day event from noon-1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21. The public event will be held in Lions Park, 601 E. Whidby Ave.
The event will feature a variety of speakers, music by Ivy and Joel Ricci as well as tea, coffee and cookies. Speakers include: Hilary Powers, educator at Upward Bound and a steering committee member for the Compassion Campaign of Clallam County; Lincoln High School teacher Shawne Johnson; Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin, Port Angeles City council member; Jim Waddell, U.S. Army Corps civil engineer (retired), and Ron Richards, Chair of Save the Olympic Peninsula.
The event will be held rain or shine, organizers say.
New garden at Franklin
There will be a Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King at Franklin Elementary School, 2505 S. Washington St. on Monday, Jan. 21.
