It’s time to eat some spuds for a royal occasion.

Four Sequim girls – Hannah Fritz, Hannah Gauthun and Mia Steben – make their first appearance as the Clallam County Fair Royalty for their baked potato dinner and live/ silent auction fundraiser. It begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Home Arts Building at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles. Tickets are $7 and available at the door or by calling Christine Paulsen, royalty chairman, at  461-1866.

The event serves as the main fundraiser for the royalty’s dresses and college scholarships for each girl including $500 for the queen and $400 to each princess.

They’ll participate in up to nine parades this year, five community service events and be the faces of the Clallam County Fair from Aug. 14-17. By the end of their tenure the girls will total more than 400 community service hours.

“For every parade and event we go to somebody came through the door at the fair,” Springer said. “So us going out helps the fair which is always good.”

This year, organizers are splitting the fundraiser off and holding the Coronation/ Princess Tea at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the fairgrounds.

At the coronation, the queen will be crowned and the girls with enough qualifying points join the royalty court.
