Fire burns Agnew garage, shed; none injured

A late afternoon fire in the Agnew area destroyed a garage and shed, and threatened a home on Saturday.

Cause of the fire, on the 300 block of Solmar Road, is under investigation, officials with Clallam Fire District 3 said early this week, but is expected to exceed $150,000.

No one was injured in the blaze and homeowners were able to occupy their home that night, fire district officials said.

District 3 units from Sequim, Blyn and Carlsborg were dispatched to the home at 5:02 p.m. on Oct. 9; first-arriving units found the garage and shed on fire, with flames beginning to burn the home and melt the vinyl widow frames. Carlsborg crew members quickly cooled and extinguished the house and fought the garage fire, district officials said.

Off-duty personnel and Fire District 3 volunteers were summoned for additional manpower to assist in fighting the blaze and shuttling water from a nearby hydrant.

Clallam County PUD assisted in the incident, District 3 officials noted.
