A mobile home on Mill Road was irreparably burned this afternoon after a fire started around 12:30 p.m.
Clallam County Fire District 3 Assistant Chief Tony Hudson said residents saw smoke in the living room and called the fire department before getting out of the building. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames engulfing the living room and kitchen, he said.
Marnee Foldoe, who owns the mobile home and was renting it to the residents, said she was on her way home from a Veterans Day tribute at the U.S. Coast Guard base in Port Angeles when she got a phone call from her tenants.
“I was shocked to turn off the highway and see a street full of fire trucks,” she said.
Foldoe lives next door to the mobile home.
Everything in the house was a loss, she said, but she is grateful for the quick response by fire crews.
Several blocks of Mill Road were closed for close to an hour while crews extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Hudson said.
