Clallam County Fire District 3 promoted two of its own and welcomed a batch of new recruits at a promotional ceremony at Station 34 in Sequim.
On April 27, Chris Turner became captain of “C†shift and Lawrence Bingham became lieutenant on “A†shift.
Turner was hired in 1999 as a firefighter/paramedic and promoted to lieutenant in July 2008. He is an active member of the special operations teams, wildland team and is the team leader for the Region 2 Technical Rescue Team.
Bingham was hired in July 1996 as an firefighter/emergency medical technician.
He’s been a volunteer and career first responder for 29 years and volunteer for 13 years at R-Corner fire station.
Bingham serves as prevention/ education specialist, senior member of the fire investigation team and supervises and maintains the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus fit testing/record keeping for the district.
New recruits
The fire district recognized several new recruits who spent 12 weeks at the 2010 Recruit Academy who will spend their time at four fire stations.

The fire district has seven stations covering about 140 square miles from the Clallam-Jefferson county line to six miles east of Port Angeles.
