Firefighters rescue dog in Agnew area

First responders performed a technical rescue down a steep hillside in the Agnew area to save a dog on Saturday, Dec. 23.

Battalion Chief Elliott Jones with Clallam County Fire District 3 reported that a dog, later confirmed to be named Sparky, fell over the wooded hillside sometime earlier in the week off Finn Hall Road.

It had been missing the previous four days, he said, and residents could hear it barking down the bluff but they didn’t attempt to rescue it due to the steep embankment.

Jones said Technical Rescue was requested around 3:38 p.m. and seven firefighters responded.

With coordination from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, crews were able to rescue the dog, Jones said.

“The owners are happy to have their dog back home safe just in time for Christmas,” he said.
