Firefighters train with Life Flight

On Monday, Feb. 25, firefighters with Clallam County Fire District 3 trained with Life Flight, the new air medical transport agency located at William R. Fairchild International Airport in Port Angeles.

Assistant Chief Dan Orr said Life Flight staff showed first responders proper patient loading techniques for transferring patients into their helicopter while the rotors are still spinning — known as “Hot Loading” — that saves time and allows for expedited transports.

Training took place at the helipad landing zone in front of the Jamestown Family Health Clinic.

Orr said fire crews “look forward to Life Flight’s response capabilities for our area, as the helicopter will be permanently located at the airport when not in-service.”
