The eighth annual fishing derby hosted by the North Olympic Peninsula Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers is from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the children’s fishing pond in the Reuse Water Demonstration Site north of Carrie Blake Park on Blake Avenue.

Children 14 and younger can fish with the club’s or their own equipment to catch stocked trout. Volunteers will be available to help.

The pond is closed for maintenance before the event but youngsters can continue to fish at the pond after the derby. Police will be monitoring the site. Four adult men were fined last year for fishing in the pond illegally.
