Footprinters pick scholarship winners

The Olympic Peninsula International Footprint Association, Chapter 74, hosted scholarship winners and their families at a recent dinner meeting. The two $1,000 scholarship award winners were Sequim graduates Christian Whitaker and Alec Holland.

The Olympic Peninsula International Footprint Association, Chapter 74, hosted scholarship winners and their families at a recent dinner meeting. The two $1,000 scholarship award winners were Sequim graduates Christian Whitaker and Alec Holland.

Whitaker also graduated from the Peninsula College Running Start Program. He plans to further his education at Central Washington University to study paramedicine. Whitaker is the son of James and Sharon Whitaker of Sequim.

Holland plans to attend Peninsula College this summer to take some pre-requisite classes and then attend Everett Community College in the fall to study Fire Science. He is the son of Larry and Meg Holland.

The Olympic Peninsula Footprinter Chapter initiated the scholarship program in 2005 and has awarded over $16,000 in scholarships to local graduates pursuing a degree or certificate in public safety since then.
