Pete Seeger is celebrating his 90th birthday on May 3 at Madison Square Garden with Bruce, Arlo, Emmylou, Joan and many more. If you can't make it to New York on such a short notice, don't feel bad.

The Green Party of Clallam County is holding a "For Pete’s Sake, Sing Out" at the Pioneer Memorial Park clubhouse, 387 E. Washington St., Sequim.

Local musicians will perform their favorite Pete Seeger songs and their own songs inspired by him from 2:30-4:30 p.m. May 3. There will be birthday cake and coffee.

Seeger has an Olympic Peninsula connection. In 1957 and 1958, he performed in Port Angeles at a concert organized by 15-year-old Susan Wheeler. He stayed at the Don Wheeler dairy farm, which is the present-day Cedarbrook Lavender & Herb Farm in Sequim. Tim Wheeler, Susan’s older brother, will be the master of ceremonies. Musicians who have agreed to perform include Steve Kohler and Howly Slim of Sequim, The Raging Grannies and Lee and Janelle Goldhammer of Port Townsend.
