Forde announces candidacy for state representative

Clallam County Republican chair Sue Forde announced on March 11 her candidacy for the District 24 legislative seat now held by Democrat Mike Chapman.

Her priorities are no state income tax, streamlining government agencies, choice in education, and protection of faith, family and individual rights.

Forde said she opposes the sex education bill and added that: “Tax-and-spend Democrats trampled on the $30 car tabs initiative voters overwhelmingly passed in 2019.”

District 24 covers Clallam and Jefferson counties and part of Grays Harbor County. Chapman, a Port Angeles resident, represents the district along with fellow Democrats Rep. Steve Tharinger of Port Townsend and Sen. Kevin Van De Wege of Sequim.

Forde is a two-term elected Home Rule Charter Commission member. She said she is a former escrow officer, Realtor, journalist and current website designer.
