Former Sequim city assistant manager takes South Lake Tahoe job

Joe Irvin, former assistant city manager for the City of Sequim, was selected the new city manager for South Lake Tahoe (Calif.).

The South Lake Tahoe city council voted to hire Irvin from a group of four finalists, SouthTahoeNow.com reported on March 12.

Irvin worked for the City of Sequim in two stints: he was originally hired in May 2005 as assistant city planner and eventually served as interim planning director for about seven months before moving to Florida so his wife could pursue a graduate degree.

He was rehired in March 2014 and quickly became Assistant to the City Manager and promoted to Assistant City Manager in January 2017. Irvin took a job as assistant city manager in Healdsburg, Calif., in the summer of 2018 before accepting the South Lake Tahoe lead administrator job.

“I have loved my 10 years working for the City of Sequim,” Irvin said in a July 2018 announcement.

Irvin is not new to South Lake Tahoe; he was a resident there from 2000-2003 while he attended Lake Tahoe Community College, SouthTahoeNow.com noted.

He will start his position with South Lake Tahoe mid-May.
