Forum, tour focuses on vocational careers

Bringing awareness to and fostering jobs through a Career Technical Education (CTE) is the focus of an upcoming tour and meet and greet with Sen. Lisa Wellman (D-41st district) in Sequim.

Clallam County Economic Development Council, and Sequim Sunrise Rotary invite the public to attend 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 1 in the Sequim High School Cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

They encourage middle and high school students and their parents/guardians, and community members to attend to learn about local, successful career paths in CTE/vocations.

Community participants will share local workforce needs in various fields, including agriculture, construction, health care, hospitality, manufacturing, technology, and more.

Some of the participants include Olympic Medical Center, Clallam County PUD, Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, City of Sequim, North Peninsula Builders Association, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, Sequim School District CTE, Sunrise Rotary Club, Sequim Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce and more.

Organizers say they look to foster local and regional support for Sequim Schools’ CTE Center of Excellence to better prepare graduates for skilled trade careers.
