Free tax preparation available

IRS-certified AARP TAX-AIDE volunteers are available again this year to prepare and electronically file tax returns at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St. in Sequim.

This quality tax preparation service is free. The TAX-AIDE program is sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation, and is available for low- and moderate-income taxpayers of all ages.

The AARP TAX-AIDE volunteers are authorized to prepare most basic tax returns, making sure that the taxpayer receives all eligible deductions and credits.

Whether first-time taxpayers, working families, retirees or anyone who just needs help getting through their tax return, the TAX-AIDE volunteers are here to help. They do not prepare returns for taxpayers that have income from rental properties or for taxpayers with complicated business returns.

Appointments are available on Wednesdays from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. throughout the tax season. Call the Shipley Center at 683-6806 to schedule your appointment.
