City of Sequim Interim City Manager Craig Ritchie announced the appointment of David Garlington as public works director effective July 20.

City of Sequim Interim City Manager Craig Ritchie announced the appointment of David Garlington as public works director effective July 20.

The decision was made in collaboration with Charlie Bush, who will begin his position as Sequim city manager on Aug. 17.

“I am excited to work with David in this very important position for the city,” said Bush. “David interviewed with several highly qualified candidates and prevailed as the best person for the job. His four years of experience with the City of Sequim and years with the Washington State Department of Transportation, along with his commitment to the city’s organizational values make him the right choice.”

Garlington is a licensed professional engineer and has worked as the city engineer and assistant public works director for the City of Sequim since April 2011. He was employed for 20 years with the Washington State Department of Transportation in Port Angeles prior to working for the city. He has served as interim public works director since December 2014.

“I am thrilled to take on this challenge,” Garlington said. “The Sequim region has been my home for 25 years and it is exciting to be a part of maintaining excellent public works service while helping the city move into the future.”
