The Dungeness River Audubon Center is sponsoring a talk and question and answer session titled “Climate Change Action on the Olympic Peninsula” from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 20.
The presentation will be at the Dungeness River Audubon Center in Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim.
Speaker Bob Lynette looks at how residents’ lives and the lives of their children may change: Will there be enough drinking and irrigation water? Will there be more extreme weather events, floods and wildfires? What will it mean for local salmon and shellfish? Will shoreline properties be at risk?
The presentation will include a discussion of what is being done to better understand and adapt to climate changes.
Before retiring, Lynette owned and managed the largest renewable energy consulting firm in the U.S. He organized the first international renewable energy conference for the United Nations, and in 2002, received the “Energy Pioneer” award by the U.S. Department of Energy. He has taught and lectured on climate change since 1979.
The talk is free, but a donation is requested. Proceeds support the center’s educational programs and the park’s maintenance. For more information, call 681-4076.
